Immediately following The Newhoma Music and Mountain Festival in Woodland Park (20 Aug), where Joseph Arthur was the headline act, putting on an incredible show despite the rather inclement weather, he raced down the pass on his way back to Denver to catch an early morning flight back to NYC and was kind enough to stop by the KRCC studios and sit down with Tino Mendine to give this heartfelt and genuine interview.
Joseph played in the studio two songs from his new release “The Graduation Ceremony” and one incredible spoken word piece deserving special attention entitled “I Miss the Zoo .”
It seems Mr. Arthur has never been entirely sure of the path that he has taken. “If I could quit (music) – say ‘F you’ to it and turn my back – I would’ve done it a thousand times,” he admits. “It’s like being in a relationship with someone you’re head over heels in love with, someone that keeps doing you wrong but you can’t cut the cord.”
Let us hope that his muse continues to wrap him in a warm and loving embrace as the artistic poetry of his music does to our ears!
